I don't know what is meant by "hypermasculine". But if you mean masculine in the typically military mode, chances are they would fit better in a unit, especially if they kept their sexual desire for other men pretty much to themselves. Regular heterosexual men don't want to hear about, or be confronted with homosexual lust, much less go into the shower room and hear men having sex in a toilet stall.

Socialist love, I don't know? Do you explain to your kid every time you and your spouse are seen kissing? Every time someone kisses in a movie, in a book, on the telly?
It's pretty manly to be with a man
Would it really be an issue? I'm certain the photo wouldn't have even spread so far had it been a lady marine with her legs on her husband.
Exactly.
And you can say "Sometimes men love other men and women love other women, but it's not very common. Love is strange and mysterious" it's not delicate or complicated. It's simple.

Simply disgusting.
One solder goes a kills 16 civilians including 9 children, the other one goes and pisses over dead bodies, then a faggoy returns with a big kiss to another man.
Simppy repulsive degenerate moral principles.
West is and should be much better then this shit.

Based on the lazy, atrocious parenting I see out in public on a regular basis, I'd say that seeing two people of any gender expressing affection is probably one of the least harmful things a child could experience.
Anyway, two people kissing is news how? Who the hell cares.

Truth is, there's a lot of things each of us believe that seem like "human nature" or "unnatural", but are actually deeply coded cultural memes engraved deep within our psyche. Look no further than the Australian Aborigine attitude toward eating insects and their larvae vs the prevailing Western attitude toward doing the same. Ditto for the Islamic and Indian attitudes toward Westerners eating pork and beef, respectively. This thread I started in fact focuses in large part on this aspect of human behavior.
If culture so heavily shapes what kinds of foods are delicious vs distusting, then what is there to prevent culture from shaping our attitudes toward sexual practices?

The guy served his country. He can kiss who he wants. I do not have issue with this PDA, in theory.
That said, the picture grosses me out. I can see why some people are bothered by it. This is coming from a person who is pro gay rights, mind you.
Nonetheless, I have to err on the side of his right to love who he wants as long as the person he has chosen is another consenting adult. This includes the notion of PDAs.
It may have gone over better if they'd each given each other a simple hug and small kiss. This kiss is somewhat obnoxious, lol

The reason why I find the picture to be less disturbing then I normally would is because he served his country. And thus he can kiss whoever he wants wherever he wants. (and I am a very much a reactionary when it comes to gay rights.)
Wake up and smell the coffee.

Something I don't see alot of people mentioning are the obvious issues of troop morale, discipline, and cohesion. Many soldiers don't want gays in the barracks because it causes disruptions but political correctness says otherwise.
Allowing policymakers to determine the course of military doctrine is what results in things like General Allen recently burning for those korans burnt, rightly so, in Afganistan.
"This individuality stuff is a bunch of bullshit," thank you General Patton.
