This makes so much sense to me.
And thats what i was trying to stress in my first post here..
"Political correctness is becoming so popullar and is ruining the image of american army and the moral of the west.
So many people keep saying even public radio hosts
"they served our country so we stand by them pissing on dead boddies in afgan, they served out country so let a woman abuse and take photos of naked men in abu-graib iraq, they fight for... So lets admire two grown men french kiss each-other in national stage"
Then most keep saying "we cant judge them becuase we aren't as brave as them to serve in miltiary, so shut it etc"
Thats precisely the point, not everyone should serve in the military, should be an honorable thing, and should set an example of morality and bravery like it allways has.
So those voices judging these incidents have every right to do so, imo.

Absolute moral truth? What is that? Oh, you mean the absolute moral truth in the Bible? The same Bible that accepts slavery, genocide, infanticide, incest and sex slavery? The same Bible that tells us that eating shellfish and working on the sabbath is worthy of the death penalty, but doesn't seem to have a problem with child raping pedophiles? The same Bible that teaches us that the Abrahamic god is vengeful, petty, spiteful and wrathful... but he loves us?

The Bible. The best collection of horror stories and kill/rape fests ever written but it should be as marked 18+ because of all the blood and gore.
Still: it's fascinating to see the twisted culture of a bunch of seriously delusional capraphiliac desert-dwellers 2000+ years ago.
Wake up and smell the coffee.

@Hevneren: Pretty embarassing to post about the bible when you don´t even understand the most basic exegetic rules.... I like free speech, one reason being its use in exposing the utter stupidity of uneducated people that talk about things they don´t have a clue about. Your posting is so stupid I don´t even know what to begin with...

My brother was in the Army and is currently in the Army National Guard. I've asked him about queers in the military and, despite what you may hear in state-controlled media that queers in uniform is a harmless phenomenon, it does bother alot of the guys and it does effect morale.
I'd take his word, the word of a vet, over that of some policymaker any day.

I had this thought as well: alot of the people in the U.S. military come from religious backgrounds, evangelical or Catholic or whatever. One more reason why queers are going to cause problems. The U.S. military gets huge amounts of recruits from the Bible Belt and other areas where religiosity is commonplace.
How's some evangelical private going to feel if he has to bunk with a squaddie who's gay?

A lot of guys from evangelical backgrounds wrestling with their homosexual desires have joined the marines as a desperate measure to "cure" themselves, under the assumption that doing something really really manly will counter their homosexuality. Guys with that mentality might feel especially threatened by the example of securely gay, totally masculine comrades. Securely heterosexual guys will quickly get over any anxieties about queers once they find themselves working and fighting alongside gay guys who have enough sense to not hit on anything with a dick.
