North Africans are basically Sardinians with Negroid and minor SW Asian admixes.

From a genetic point of view, Sardinians are 100.000 years distant from Northern Africans. Also their haplogroups are different: Sardinians are mostly I, N. Africans mostly E3b.

I agree that most Northern Africans look 1/4 mulattos, at least those who are here in Italy do. Sometimes they can be confused for southern American mulattos if it weren't for the fact that they have a more gracile body structure, while true mulattos have a more robust skeleton.

Remember the descendants of freed black slaves would tend to gravitate to the lowest social classes of Moroccan society.

As far as I know, North Africans do have something of an Arabian component to their genes.. but Dienekes' "North African" component, which is really a made up one composed of a mixture of SW Asian, Med, and Sub-Saharan masks it .

Ofc Northern Africans have a strong arabid component. If the frequence of the haplogroup J1 is significative to calculate the arabid component in a population northern Africans are for 10-40% Arab.
