Russia's not going anywhere soon. North Caucasus is quite loyal (cause they recieve huge subsidies) and it's Russian Nationalists who want it independent and not locals.

I lived in Russia for seven years. To those who've never heard of a Putin supporter, I can simply state that both my two ex-girlfriends there support Putin. One of my brightest students (a young woman who's just had a baby) supports him too. These are all strong patriots, upholding Russia's distinctness and resisting westernisation. A lot of my other acquaintances are realistic about him, even if they aren't exactly his 'fans', as they accept that there is no alternative. Russia is still reeling from 1991, and playing about with 'democracy' will do it no good. Stability and order are necessary, and consistent rule to prevent the place falling victim to the vultures that are ever circling and hoping the country will trip up.

Well, on average Latvia is becoming 0.5% more Latvian every year since independence, so Russkies don't have so bright future here.

Yeah, Latvia is called "demographic catastrophe" country, BUT the demographic data for ethnic Latvians is way better than the data for non-Latvians. Thus the average is "pulled" down due to them. Recently this is like a hot topic here, and I at least hope the situation will stabilize before it's too late.

I also can say about the Baltic countries.

I don't know about the Baltic countries, but Estonia is rated as the most democratic country in the world by some researches.

Also, Estonia ranks in the top 5 in the world, in press freedom. Our news are honest and do not brainwash anyone.

While Russian media is like this: "Estonia is the 3rd Reich of the 21th century, all Estonians are fascists!"

I don't want to sound mean and rude, but obviously, if Russia wants, they can easily make you another republic or province of their country
