Like when he condemned one of the Baltic states for tearing down a Soviet statue and likened it to Nazi Germany.

The monument was relocated for good reasons. It was in the middle of our capital, drunk Russians gathered there being very vocal about how much they hate Estonian independence and Estonians. My favourite quote from a Russian liberator war veteran - "we should have killed all Estonians during the war". It's in a war cemetery now, where it belongs, not blown up as the Russian media portrayed it.

The West understood why those men had fought in a German uniform, and the very same Estonian SS men stood as guards watching over high ranking Nazis during the Nuremberg trials, they were also taken into the MI6. The West always understood they were no Nazis and had entirely different reasons for fighting the Soviets, while Soviets sent them through Gulags and they were under oppression until the Soviet Onion collapsed.

They fought to keep the Soviet murderers out since they witnessed all the Soviet horrors well before there were Nazis here, they didn't fight for Nazi Germany. If Zimbabwe had supplied the uniforms and the guns to fight off the Russians, then they would have worn that uniform. My own relatives wore a German uniform, and I'm damn proud of them fighting against the Soviets.

Yeah, the Russian portrayal of us as a Nazi Apartheid state is not preposterous, either.

That monument got taken down very fast by the Estonian government long before the whole Soviet monument thing. The locals in the area where the monument stood were very displeased and even started throwing rocks if I remember. Now it's at a private owned location. Everything some group of private individuals interested in history do, like calendars depicting old war-time posters, then gets taken on by the Russian media to be used to prove the "fascist tendencies" of the Estonian government. Russia is so blatant and arrogant with their lies, it's rather comical... but then it sets in as a tragedy.

The monument states "To Estonian men who fought in 1940-1945 against Bolshevism and for the restoration of Estonian independence" and clearly has no SS or swastikas on it. Glorification of Nazi Germany my ass.

He presented worthy alternative as being expert in internal and external political affairs, patriotically oriented, not involved with any financial speculators or 'politically dead' parties like KPRF. He is professional Russia need now and I'm pretty sure a lot of people would vote for him.

I long for the day when that country will finally have a president doing away with the communist past for good, statues, parades, symbols, everything, instead of glorifying and trying to revive it. Never brought the world any favours the first time around either.

On the other hand, it is getting slightly tiring to keep hearing these various Baltic peoples "distance themselves" from the nation that liberated them from under the Stalinist yoke. For goodness' sake, you know you'll be likened to National Socialists whatever you do, especially if their uniforms are on display and your enemies won't care about your motivations. This is how politics works. Just take their scorn like a man with pride.
