It's very simple. You compare the person to one or more benchmark types. Then you can see who they resemble most.

Alina is a Turkic woman who is ashamed of her actual ethnicity. So she changed her name into a Romanian one and claims she is an ethnic Romanian. She says her accent is muddled because she lived in New York for a long time, but that is really a cover story for the fact that she was living somewhere in the Middle East.
