It was these people who would eventually subdue Anatolia and destroying what was left of the Byzantine empire and laying foundation of the Ottoman empire. Most the Turkic tribes that came to Anatolia were of Turkoman origins.

Iraqi Turkmens are different from the people of Turkmenistan and are genetically close to Kurds and Persians they speak dailect of South Azeri.

Turkmen Y-DNA is mostly R1b (Central Asian kind) and their mtDNA is a mixture of Caucasoid/Mongoloid. Not saying that there isn't any Iranian blood in them. But saying that they are mostly Iranian is BS.

I'm pretty sure Turkmens are mostly turkified Tajiks. Where do you think their Caucasoid admixture comes from than?

Tajiks and Turkmens have similar autosomal DNA but different Y- and mtDNA. While Tajiks have mostly Y-DNA R1a (associated with Iranic peoples), Turkmens have R1b but also G and J (associated with Central Asian Turkic peoples and Near Eastern people).

Another thing is that Central Asia was not only populated by Iranic people.

No! A lot of Uzbeks are turkified Tajiks but not Turkmens, they are two different nations.
