Witness Told Cops He Saw Trayvon Martin Straddling George Zimmerman And Punching Him "MMA Style"
Autopsy shows Trayvon Martin had injuries to his knuckles: reportA witness told Florida cops that he saw Trayvon Martin straddling George Zimmerman and pummeling the neighborhood watch captain “MMA style” shortly before the unarmed teen was felled by a gunshot to the chest.
The witness’s account was included in Sanford Police Department reports released today.
Interviewed by cops about 90 minutes after the shooting, the witness--whose name was redacted from police documents--said that he was inside his home when he heard a “commotion coming from the walk way” behind his residence.
The man recalled seeing “a black male, wearing a dark colored ‘hoodie’ on top of a white or Hispanic male who was yelling for help.” The black male, he added, “was mounted on the white or Hispanic male and throwing punches ‘MMA (mixed martial arts) style.'”
The witness--who was in his living room and about 30 feet away from the confrontation-- said he called out to the two men that he was dialing 911. “He then heard a ‘pop,’” police reported, and saw the black male “laid out on the grass.”
Zimmerman is pictured above in photos taken by police shortly after the February 26 shooting.
The police reports also include observations from two Sanford cops regarding Zimmerman’s physical appearance following the shooting. Officer Timothy Smith reported that Zimmerman was “bleeding from the nose and back of his head,” while Officer Jonathan Mead noted that he “appeared to have a broken and bloody nose and swelling of his face.”
Investigators also reported receiving medical reports from Altamonte Medical Practice “identifying the injuries sustained by Zimmerman on the evening of 2/26/2012.” The records indicated that he suffered an “open wound of scalp” and “Nasal bones, closed fracture.”
Trayvon Martin had marijuana in system the night he was gunned downAutopsy results confirm that Trayvon Martin sustained injuries to his knuckles before he was gunned down in a Florida gated community.
The medical examiner found two injuries on Martin’s body: the fatal gunshot wound on his chest and broken skin on his knuckles, according to WFTV.
WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said the hand wounds could bolster the case of George Zimmerman, who claims he killed the unarmed 17-year-old in self-defense.
“It goes along with Zimmerman’s story that he acted in self-defense because he was getting beaten up by Trayvon Martin,” Sheaffer said.
Sheaffer acknowledged, however, that the injuries could have been a result of Trayvon trying to defend himself.
“It could be consistent with Trayvon either trying to get away or defend himself,” Sheaffer said.
The details of Trayvon’s hand wounds came amid reports that Zimmerman suffered several injuries to his face and neck during the struggle.
Zimmerman’s family physician said he had a pair of lacerations to the back of his head, two black eyes, a minor back injury and a “closed fracture” of his nose, according to the report obtained by ABC News
Zimmerman, 28, killed Trayvon in a Sanford condo complex Feb. 26 after calling 911 to report a suspicious person.
Zimmerman claimed self-defense, saying Trayvon jumped him. Zimmerman was charged in April with second degree murder.
He remains out on $150,000 bail.
We're all still waiting on 2Cool's apology. The asshole was in this thread every five minutes spreading rumors and speculation: all, of course, blindly defending Trayvon and casting aspersions on Zimmerman. Now that the evidence is insurmountable, and--surprise surprise--Zimmerman is guilty only of defending himself from a rampaging ape, an honest person would admit his grievous mistake.Trayvon Martin had marijuana in his system the night he was gunned down in a Florida condo complex, according to a medical report released Thursday.
Martin’s autopsy report shows he had traces of THC, the active ingredient in pot, in his blood and urine.
The medical file was among a trove of evidence — including hundreds of pages of interviews and photos — released Thursday.
Among the pieces of evidence is a photo of suspect George Zimmerman — taken the night of the encounter — showing him with a bloody nose.
Zimmerman also had a one-inch laceration on his head and a forehead abrasion, according to a paramedic report.
“Bleeding tenderness to his nose, and a small laceration to the back of his head,” paramedic Michael Brandy wrote.
“All injuries have minor bleeding.”
EVIDENCE MIXED FOR SELF-DEFENSE CLAIM: EXPERTS
The Martin family lawyer called the fresh details on Zimmerman’s injuries “suspicious.”
“If he had these injuries, why didn’t they take him to the hospital?” attorney Benjamin Crump told the Miami Herald.
“This happened at about 7:30. In the police surveillance video taken 30 minutes later, you can see with your own eyes that the fire rescue people didn’t so much as put a Band-Aid on his head.”
Martin, 17, was shot to death by Zimmerman in a gated community in Sanford in February.
A crime scene report says the unarmed Martin was carrying $40.15, a bag of Skittles, a red lighter, headphones and a photo pin in his pocket.
He had been shot once in the chest — from a distance of 1 inch to 18 inches away — and was pronounced dead at the scene, records show.
Zimmerman, who pleaded not guilty to murder charges, has insisted that he fired in self-defense.
The 28-year-old neighborhood watch volunteer wasn’t arrested until two months after the shooting, following the appointment of a special prosecutor.
The new documents show that a Sanford police investigator recommended that Zimmerman be charged with manslaughter a month before he was arrested.
The investigator, Christopher Serino, believed the encounter was “ultimately avoidable” if Zimmerman “remained in his vehicle and awaited the arrival of law enforcement.”
We're waiting, 2Cool.
