Each European nose type likely descends from one common ancestor some thousands of years ago.

I have never paid much attention to my nose but looking at some on my photos from profile and the front it's interesting how you can get much different impression as far as dimensions go. I guess overall pretty average (maybe med probably too wide for dinaric) but from profile it's rather straight and doesn't look like it would be as wide. Then the last photo I'm not sure if the aspect ratio is wrong but it looks small and the bridge narrow. I guess it's all angles :/

I don't even think my nose is European, looks like a jewish or arabic hook. My parents don't have it and neither does literally anyone in my extended family (I know I'm not adopted). I think I just got incredibly unlucky and it came somewhere out of my 1/8 southern Italian/Sicilian heritage.

I have a family member who has a mesorrhine (medium-wide), straight (not convex or concave), prominent nose. Another family member has the same exact nose but it is down-turned too (again not convex). Is it fair to say that it is a mix of Alpine and Dinaric noses? I have both phenotypes in my family.
It can't be Armenid or Dinaric (fully) or Mediterranid since their noses are hyperleptorrhine.
Any ideas?

I realize that Dinarid or Norid is just people that have a medium to large nose with a shape that can be somwhat changeable in any population. Men on average have a nose that is 10 percent longer than women. The reason for this is because men on average have more muscle and there is more oxygen needed for more muscle ,so a prominent nose allows more oxygen to go to the muscles.Look up arabs in any search engine and realy look at their noses and you will see they don't have noses that are more prominent than european noses . Their noses are more broad and sometimes have a convex shape. The broadness creates an illusion that makes you think their nose is prominent when it isnt. Some do have a convex nose shape ,but isn't everyone and the broadness makes the nose look big especially from a angled view or from the front.I have seen prominent noses in all caucasian countries including scandinavia and also very cold places like lappland on Sami people.Super atheltes tend to have more prominent noses and people with more muscle. Petter Northug,Björn Borg,Patrik Sjöberg,Johan Olsson, Anders Breivik and there is much more. I put scandinavian examples because it seems that alot of people dont think "pure" northern people can not have a prominent nose including Sami people that live in freezing conditions.Ive looked at many italians ,germans, British, Russians and i looked with a trained eye and the prominent dinaric/norid nose isnt more common in Serbia, austria, yugoslavia, ( dinaric countries) than these other countries( western and northern europe)
