That's my idea, too. A classical European Mediterannean + CroMagnid mix.
He doesn't look particularly Romanian, nor does he look Polish or German. Regardless of his ethnic background, which was probably non-Romanian (both parents were Roman Catholics), his aura glows amidst pitch darkness of interwar Romanian politics. Like Adolf Hitler, he was a man of another era...

Codreanu: Atlanto-Pontid with additional Nordid and CM influence
Ilinoiu: Gorid with possible Aurignacid influence
As to his Slavic surname, it does not necessarily indicate recent non-Romanian ancestors. I know a Romanian from Cluj with a Polish surname and it can be traced back to some Polish immigrants from a few centuries ago, so it doesn't mean much. As well, both of my Romanian grandparents have surnames of Slavic origin, and they're from Arges County. In conclusion, I still think his father's side is Romanian, despite his surname.

Very suspicions how no reliable information exists about his mother's origin. I'm sure she was Jewish. Brauner was a typical Jewish name. See these two famous brothers:

His father was of 100% Polish origin.
So no Romanian/Moldovan in him.

It is safe to say that he was gorgeous. One of the rare people to be gorgeous inside and outside. Men of the caliber of himself and Joachim Peiper are needed more than ever today.
