Land mass, political clout and potential size of any unified military + conscripts. No; it's no bigotry, I don't hate Slavs, I verge more on admiring them.

I don't think so. Slavs see themselves as Slavs, ask a Germanic and they'll say they're just Northern European.

Well I think most see the common bonds (except for Macedonians that pretend otherwise). Obviously they identify more with ethnic groups first.
