Who cares about their 'rich Aryan history'? Before Islam, they tried kicking in the door on ancient Greece, arguably trying to kill our civilisation in its cradle. Our heritage, such as we possess, is entirely our own. Catholicism, Protestantism, Germanic and Celtic liberty, private property and a volunteerist military tradition, fair treatment of our women, limited government and the Faustian cult of achievement - that's our heritage. We are so thoroughly differentiated from whatever we once had in common with Iran's people that it may as well not have happened. We've retained practically nothing from Rome, why bother mentioning 'rich Aryan histories'?

We've got about as much in common with Iran as we do with India - actually, I take that back. There has never been an existential zero-sum game between our civilisation and Hinduism.

Say what you will. I still admire the old Shah us americans put in power. I also think that american leaders should be doing anything they can to get along with Mahmoud Ahmedemajad.

I voted for our client state of Israel because Iran is Muslim, and you all know what I think of THEM. However, I think that it is long since time that we cut the apron strings and made Israel stand on its own two feet.

If Israel cannot survive without a continuous infusion of subsidies from the US, then so be it. Israel has had 64 years to become a viable entity on its own. What it has not had is an incentive to do so. Maybe we need to tell them that this is the last time we are going to pull their chestnuts out of the fire.

So what? There's people in Sri Lanka that are Indo-European, language groups encompass many races and ethnicities.
Indo-Europeans in much of Asia were just an invading elite whereas in much of Europe they came to make up the majority.

I didn't mean any offence. I meant that 'Semites' and 'Indo-Europeans' are just rather generic terms. For example I'd say that the Semitic Maltese have more in common with other Europeans than any Indo-European Sinhalese from Sri Lanka do.
These two terms are largely based on language today. The ancient IE culture and religion have long since evolved / been destroyed / been assimilated. Indo-Europeans in Ireland have next to nothing to do with Indo-Europeans in India.
