During the last 24 hours we have received numerous emails, asking us to report on the brutal and perverse rape of a 16-year-old girl in Worms, which has not been reported at all by German media.
On February 23, SOS-Österreich was one of the first blogs to report on this inhumanly violent attack.
Since unbelievable or horrifying reports come to us almost daily, the incident in Worms was forgotten. Only after several references in our comment section, and/or direct mails, as well as some intensive “googling,” did we notice that only diverse blogs — but no public media in Germany — reported on the rape and mutilation of a young German girl. Is this silence strange, or not?
The blog Honigmannsagt writes that the press of the Federal Republic has put an embargo on this story. This is an appeal to them! Please, bring this case to the attention of the public.
In accordance with §12.1 of its code, the Federal Republic press has put a gag order on this story.
It needs to be broken. We join the following appeal by the party Die Freiheit of Hesse: After almost three weeks the silence has been broken: Even this inhuman, bestial act of gang rape of a 16-year-old girl by Turks or those of Turkish immigrant background is exceeded by a brutality beyond imagination.
We ask everyone, please broadcast this — send it to your regional newspapers. There must be an outcry and the long overdue discussion of how to deal with this kind of behavior. We are not talking about an isolated incident. It is happening everywhere in Europe — from England to Sweden
HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED:
On February 15, 2012, at 8:30 PM an unimaginably ferocious act was committed on a human being — a bestial, barbaric act.A 16-year-old girl was tormented, beaten and gang-raped in a parking garage in Worms. But that was not enough for her tormenters. They raped her with a bottle and then broke the bottle and jammed it into her, severing her intestine and slicing open her womb. She was found unconscious, severely wounded and unclothed. Only an emergency operation saved her.
The results: Because of the severe mutilation in the genital area, a permanent ileostomy was performed (creating a permanent, artificial anus). She will never lead a normal life, have a sexual life, have children. At the moment, it is a question of supporting her spiritually and finding psychological care for her. Her family will have to be there for her at all times and let her know that she is needed and will always have someone who loves her — suicide is a great danger. In a similar case, the girl tried to take her life and had to be committed to a psychiatric institution.
There were two perpetrators, a 17-year-old male and a 19 year-old male of Turkish immigrant background. One of them, however, “only” watched, and has been released.
It is really of secondary importance whether the perpetrators of such a terrible rape are native or immigrant. It is utterly inhuman. But we have one question: Would this case have been gagged by the press if the perpetrators had been named Michael, Karl or Peter? Not likely.
Whatever the names, whatever the ethnic background, there is no fitting punishment for this brutal act of torture.

Kurdish girl describes for Nibelungen Kurier [local newspaper] the dramatic events of the violent crime and the trauma she suffered

[photo] In this parking garage on Friedrichstraße [street name], on 16th February three young men committed a crime on a 16 years old girl.

Two weeks ago, the Kurd Sandra M.* has become victim of a violent crime in a Worms parking garage. Since then she is in a Worms hospital. She now described to Nibelungen Kurier the dramatic events, how they happened at that evening. In our conversation, the 16-year old talked about the events in a collected manner. Present in the hospital room were only the mother and the little sister of the victim.

Sad and with solemn voice, she begins to talk about the events. On that evening from 7pm onwards, she had been with three young men between 17 and 19 years old in a shisha bar in downtown Worms. She had first met the young men around four weeks ago, and since then went out with them already a few times.

Of what was to follow, Sanda M. couldn't have a clue at that time. After they were in the shisha bar, they left the bar together, and outside they drank some vodka-mix beverages. Sandra M. told, that she had enough after two drinks and didn't want any more. The young men urged her to drink more.

Already after a few sips from the third glass, Sandra's eyes began perceiving the environment only very blurry. "It seemed to me, as if I was a wearer of glasses and had lost my glasses", the 16-year old said. "I could see everything around me only dim and distorted", she continued. "We then went towards the underground car park. The boys wanted to 'chill' there and 'hang out' with me", Sandra remembered the fateful night.

"They left my daughter lying and went on revelling"

Sandra only vaguely remembers what happened next. She was raped in extremely brutal manner, got downright 'slit open' on the entire abdomen with a broken glass bottle and then let lying in her puddle of blood in the stairwell of the underground car park, her mother reported at her hospital bedside with a throaty voice.

"They broke my bone with an iron bar", Sandra knows from the doctors' explanations. Still weak, she remembered having been doused after the deed with something wet, possibly alcohol.

"Maybe they even wanted to set me ablaze", she uttered with horror. After that she lost consciousness. "They gave me knockout drops", she said and looked out of the window as if lost in thought.

From reports she knows now, that an elderly man found her around midnight, naked and bleeding, and brought her to the hospital, where whe lay in a coma for two days. The young men returned to revelling, she continued, sad.

"If I was older, I wouldn't be alive anymore"

"She had lost a lot of blood", remembers the mother, at the hospital bedside of her daughter, those anxious hours when her daughter fought for her life. Three times Sandra was operated since that Thursday. Now she is out of danger, out of intensive care, and with some luck will be released in a couple weeks, so she hopes. But she will have to have one more operation in about three months. Luckily, physically she will 'only' keep a scar.

The emotional and psychological damages, which may perhaps emerge in Sandra only later, are certainly much worse than the physical. "If I was older, I probably wouldn't be alive anymore", knows the adolescent. She was very lucky, it could have been worse.

Sandra's mother believes it was an act of revenge. Already a few months ago, the three perpetrators, one from Worms and two from Ludwigshafen, had met and made friends with her daughter. Because Sandra wanted to tell the police about the boys' drug involvement, they swore revenge and carried it out on that fateful Thursday.

I'm no professional writer and certainly my mother tongue shines through. The original uses a richer set of synonyms, but still suffers from repetitions almost as my text does. For a supposedly trained journalist, the article's style looks rather immature.

The editor changed the victim's name to a fictive one for the report, as is lawful practice while investigations aren't finalized. However, very few Kurdish girls are named 'Sandra'.

Of course, you note the complete absence, as if careful avoidance, of the naming of the perpetrators' ethnicity. One can only surmise by circumstantial evidence such as the mention of a "shisha bar", which gets German visitors, too, but not as a majority.

Worms has its place in history as a main location in the ancient Nibelungen saga (the one with Siegfried and the dragon), hence the local paper's name. Through the dark ages it was an important ecclesial center. Today it is a provincial town with higher than average immigrant population and lower than average economic opportunities, saved only by its location on the fringes of the strong Rhein-Main area from sliding down further.

As for the report: It is with some relief that we can learn the girl is doing okay under the circumstances, and her physical damage will not lead to a permanent handikap. The artificial exit was probably an emergency measure, I guess the announced further operation is about returning it to normal. Wish her all the best, and strength to overcome the emotional damage.

I have not seen reports of this crime showing up anywhere outside the town's local press. This seems odd, as sometimes even petty crimes get a writeup across the wider region, probably depending on editors' whims and space available. Or whatever one likes to conclude...

If the nationality of the assaulters is confirmed, this is a hate crime: she's kurdish, her torturers turkish. Ethnicity played a role in this horrorific story.
