Its amazing how strong the concept of racial and cultural purity have remained in the "Germanic" French populations, and in the more Latin regions.

I thought Marseille, which is down in that area, is the archetype other than for Paris when it comes to multiculturalism.

True, I would have supposed that based off this map that most immigrants in these regions did not vote for Le Pen, but I still blame the Gallo-Romance dominance of this region.

It is quite obvious that the regions where Le Pen got more votes are the most heavily populated my third-world immigrants. Putting racial concepts into this is a joke and pure nonsense.

The question is what in the world is wrong with Central France

Central France is rural and poor but the criminality and immigration are low, that's why they vote for the left rather than Sarko or Le Pen. Another factor is that Hollande comes from Limousin, he obtained his best score in Corrèze (and Sarko in Neuilly (Ile de France) from which he was the mayor for many years).
Interestingly, despite being remote and sparsely populated the three neighbouring departements of Corrèze, Cantal, and Puy de Dôme gave us most of our presidents since the biginning of the Vth republic : Pompidou, Giscard, Chirac, and Hollande who'll probably be elected in May.
