What is the meaning of the word hispanic to you?

I´ve heard a lot of people give a different meaning to the word hispanic, so I want to know what´s your opinion.

Latin Americans of pure/close to pure Spanish descent.

A black Dominican, an Asian-looking Amerindian from southern Mexico who happens to speak Spanish, and an Italian descent Argentine are not Hispanic to me. Most of their ancestry didn't come from Spain!

I don't consider "Hispanic" a uruguayan or an argentine of italian/spanish/german etc. descents, and neither a 100% pure bloode peruvian inca quechua speaker or a Paraguayos guaranì from Chaco.

There is only one correct definition, Hispanics are people native to Hispania, now known as the Iberian Peninsula. All other definitions, especially when applied to mixed people in "Latin America" are corruptions.

If I were Spanish, I wouldn't want to use the term since Latin Americans tainted it.

A lot of the Mexicans on ABF try to connect themselves to Italians.. I saw one today saying he looked Sicilian.. I wanted to sign up just to tell him I'd bet anything he doesn't

But the whole calling themselves "Latin" makes a case for them to connect themselves to Italy and the Romans, which angers me. Mestizos are half Mongolian new worlders, not Latins/Romans.

Either way, Hispanic and Latino are just PC terms that we use so we don't have to call them "mongrels", "mixed race mutts", and other terms of the like. Not like I'd use those anyway, but that's the truth.
