Of course, Bladerunner should be included on this thread!Ridley Scott did an amazing job of translating Philip K. Dick's book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. But I also think he did better than the book. The world was so fully realized and realistic and gritty. It has a sincerity in its rawness. And the underlying question of what makes you a human, and what makes you a robotic drone of society was very well addressed even if it doesn't completely answer it. I cry at the death of Roy Batty every time, because his speech is just so moving.

The movie is nothing compared to the book, I highly recommend reading it.Originally Posted by Furnace

Isaac Asimov also has great sci fi books
Some great 70's sci fi movies:
Silent Running
Logan's Run
Zardoz
The Omega Man
Westworld
The Andromeda Stain
Solaris
A Clockwork Orange
Soylent Green
Another good one is Contact (based on Carl Sagan's writings)

An extinct alien race has built a huge subterranean thermonuclear-powered complex into their planet that can turn humans into their own worst enemies.
The film stars Leslie Nielsen as a no-nonsense starship commander, before his roles in the Naked Gun series.
My favorite character in the film is Robby the Robot, who is the predecessor of the robot B-9 in the Lost in Space TV series of the 1960's.![]()

I find "Dune" one of the strangest sci-fi shows
I loved Dune...i was little
when i saw it but i still remember it

The movie adaptation of Dune does not do the novel justice. David Lynch does not fit to make such a movie![]()
I havent read it, but i was just a kid when i saw it and i can still vividly remember scenes and dialoges...thats a huge impact for something i only saw as childonce so many years ago....
...So i wish to see it againand then also read it
since you say is that good...

I'm a fan of Louis and Bebe Barron. They were pioneers in the field of electronic music. When you hear their sounds you think of space. It all started with the film Forbidden Planet.

A tribute to The Forbidden Planet sound effects. The Asian dude at 2:30 created a really cool sound effects machine that mimics the sounds in the film.

I like the classic ones: Star Wars (mainly the old trilogy), Star Trek; Alien (the original series, not the Alien vs. Predator franchise). There's one good called The Thing, 1982, and a new one that I think it's quite good called Pandorum.
John Hurt is so fucking win![]()
