Some interesting results from the poll:

51.1% would vote in favour of the independence of Catalonia if there was a referendum tomorrow. A majority for the first time in the official Gov. polls.

21.1% would vote no to independence. Figures for convinced non-independentists keep going down.

34% would be in favour of a completely sovereing Catalan state. First time chosen as the 1st option too. (It was 13.9% only six years ago)

28.7% would be in favour of a Catalan State within a Federal Union.

25.4% would be in favour of an Autonomous Community within Spain (present situation).

55.5% of Catalans think they'd be better with independence than they are now.


Start getting used to this. It's a matter of time.

If the continuation of Catalonia within the EU is guaranteed,

Yes to independence: 61,9%
No to independence: 31,4%

If the continuation is not guaranteed,

No to independence: 46,8%
Yes to independence: 44,7%

Advice to the Unionists: keep saying that Catalonia will be out of the EU, even if you don't know it because it isn't stated anywhere. Catalans, specially the old ones, seem to be extremely Europeanist.

Not any recent I know of.

Yes. Out of 75 seats, Unionists only got 27, the same which has got the PNV. But only EH Bildu (21 seats) clearly supports independence. PNV has traditionally moved in ambiguous nationalism, although the movement of CIU in Catalonia towards independence might push PNV somehow into the same situation.

The Basque Country and Catalonia are very different realities, though. Just like Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

That girl is, apart from obviously stupid, clearly biased from the start. But it's true that for many Spaniards it seems to be a very difficult thing to conceive that the language of Catalonia is, oh surprise, Catalan.

Aranes is nearly extincted mainly because french have killed Occitan language, and aranese are actually isolated. Aranese people actually speak mainly castillian, and they are clearly prospanish. In my opinion catalonian should put more atention in Andorra than to Aran Valley. It is stupid that being Catalan oficial language, only 30% speak it, and people can be educated mainly in Castilian or french, without being these languages oficial. Andorra should be Catalonia and not Aran Valley.
