Kolasinac sounds like an Albanian surname. It combines Kol(a/ë), a diminutive of Nikol(a/ë), and -sinac, which I think is a possessive suffix in South Slavic. That his father is from Sanxhak strengthens the possibility of this a lot.

Disregard that. There is a village in Montenegro--where many Bosniaks, especially those from Sanxhak originate from--with the name Kolashin. An educated guess is that this is where he's from. The name of the village may very well stem from Albanian name Kola, however.
