The Dacians could've had lighter hair/skin than the Greeks due to admixture with the Celtic tribes which inhabited parts of Transylvania, or by admixture with the neighboring Germanic tribes.

probably carpathid (dinaro-ponto-eastalpine blend, most widespread today in central and north balkans)

The Gatae were closely related to the Dacians, and were described as red/blond haired by Jerome (4th century). Maybe 2% of Romanians are blond and much less are red haired. In fact, there are probably more red haired people in Syria than in Romania. Were all ancient authors blind!?
The question is whether modern Romanians and Bulgarians are.

Yeah it is a bit odd that those countries are mostly brunet today but ancient Greeks like Herodotus described the Thracians as having lighter features. But many back then just labelled barbarians to the north in general like that. Maybe some among them, especially the elite or ruling class, were more like that, but I think the general populations were preominantly Dinarid, Norid, Pontid, Alpine, CM, maybe only minor Nordic.
I don't think East Alpine/Gorid was around them at that time... It came to exist in the area later as a result of some Slavs migrating south in the early Middle Ages and bringing a bit of that Baltid influence to the Balkans. Carpathid maybe applied to some of the northern ones but it's hard to say when that phenotype formed and stabilized exactly. And they may have mixed with Celts or Germanics like the Bastarnae. The tribes there weren't exactly the same as today.
Not only 2% are blond but more like 10 maybe, but more in some areas. Up to 20% have some kind of light hair, like light brown.
As for the Pomaks, I thought they had a fair amount of Slavic background but were Islamicized later.
Well overall the point is I think other people also impacted these countries over time from the various empires that occupied them, from Rome, Austria Hungary, etc I doubt the Turks had much of an influence though.

First of all, the notion of Thracians very quickly became broad and included more people and different anthropological types who came under their rule and have interfered with each other.
But what's interesting is that in their area can be seen one special race, which we might call proto-Thracian race, which is the also the race as the Dinarics, Mediterraneans, Nordids, but it is, unfortunately, in the root mixed with race of Dinarics and Mediterraneans and so it is hardly preserved and it can hardly be recognized.
It can be found in Romanians, Macedonians, Bulgarians in Europe. But this race is also represented in some other areas in the world (Buyi people in Asia, Papuan people, Guarana Indians in South America, ...).
These are genetic markers of that race: HLA - DRB1*16:01-DQA1*01:02-DQB1*05:02
Here you have another marker IGHG1G3 * f; b0b1b3b4b5, in addition to HLA-DR16 marker (new more precise name: HLA-DRB1 * 16:01):
http://enlite.org/podaci/slike/Dva_t...ka_markera.jpg
This race is characterized by remaining in the development of preschool age (phallic stage by Freud) and therefore preference for imagination (the most pious people in Europe are Romanians and Macedonians, most inclined to magic and tend to fall into a trance). They are inclined to incestuous relationships (fixation on the phallic phase) and they are characterized by pronounced stinginess and egoism (because the child is then turned to itself).
It should be recognized which language group coincides with the distribution of HLA-
DRB1*16:01, and HLA-DQA1*01:02, and HLA-DQB1*05:02, and then we will find out what is the original language of that proto-Thracian race.
