That's allright, but the inherent meaning of this healthy competition is the variance and spice of life.
Everything too egalatarian is boring and dictatorial.
Competition between societies and clans should be cutthroat while between individuals of a single klan should be healthy, to sort out the different people made for different tasks.

Do you think competition is the only way to figure out ones destiny? I'm not sure about it.

The purpose of a clan is to organize a few people into self-sufficient social body that able to function independently. For this every member of the clan have to fulfill his own specific role and there should be high level of trust between members of the clan.

While most common today 'winner/loser' type of competition helps to determine the role of every member at the same time it damages trust between the members thus compromising integrity of the whole clan on the long run.

But it at least makes sure that what type of person is suited for which task. Unless, the clan has genetic defects......
