Check out the Global Peace Index for 2011. Botswana is ranked 35th while Italy and Lithuania are ranked 45th and 43rd. The scores are based on a variety of factors. The homicide rate is one of them.

Botswana is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world, but is very rich in mineral resources.

I was just reading up on Botswana. It's actually one of the most successful black countries, mainly because of it's small population and incredible mineral wealth, but the worst ghetto in America would be heaven by comparison.

Botswana, like many nations in southern Africa, suffers from a high AIDS infection rates, estimated in a 2002 UN report to be 38.8% for adults.
