A tomb of the third century BC was discovered near the village of Bonce, in the region of Prilep. The archaeological site of great historical and cultural importance, must now be developed and enhanced to allow the public to discover the richness of the place.
A single ancient tomb has been discovered on the site Pavla Cuka in the village of Bonce near Prilep. According to experts, it dates from the third or fourth century BC It is one of a famous emperor, a Macedonian king was apparently very powerful. He had his own slaves, and his army had sent a company of skilled workers in order to build this burial unique in its characteristics.
"There are about seventy tombs of the same type known in the occupied territory at the time by the Macedonians, it is because of their construction hard they received the name" Macedonian ". They have all of the following: a dromos, an atrium and a bedroom, the circular wall however gives a particular imprint, a specific archaeological concept. From the evidence we have, this tomb was looted in the fifth or sixth century and was then transformed into a sacred place where there buried the dead, "says Antonio Jakimovski, at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Institute of art history and archeology.
Research conducted over the past six years on this site, in the vicinity of Podmol and Bonce show that there was during the period of Late Antiquity that territory a developed civilization, a system of fortresses and cities, kingdoms, including The most powerful was that of Pelagonia where people lived "pélagonien." All scientific findings also indicate that it is not the site of the fortress of Marko (near Prilep) nor Varos, but precisely here that the ancient city was located Pelagonia.
Develop a strategy to preserve the
It is here that were discovered many artifacts, pins, ***elry, objects of gold, silver, copper and iron, coins with the effigy of Macedonian monarchs: Alexandre Philippe, Demetrius ... Among other discoveries on the site, we can also mention the shields of the star parade with 16 branches which are now kept at the Institute of Ohrid.
"We arrived at a stage where we need to think together with the state the ability to keep these objects and give the public the opportunity to visit places," said Professor Viktor Lilcic of the Institute of History of the art and archeology, in charge of current research.
This archaeological site, according to him, is leading to the history and development of the cultural roots of Macedonia, and the state must have its strategy on the priorities for the preservation of historical and cultural heritage.
"We can develop a strategy, this is what we scientists do in a certain way. Must address the issue of archeology in general in the Republic of Macedonia, whether in primary or secondary schools, and set up a kind of cultural policy, so to speak, "says Professor Lilcic.
With preserving this heritage can be opened to the public for tours. In Macedonia, there are currently 6,000 sites listed, but is estimated to be 10 times the number of archaeological sites containing priceless treasures.
