Caucasian shepherds were bred by herders to protect livestock and flocks. The typical Caucasian Ovcharka is assertive, strong-willed and courageous. It an aloof and reserved dog that does not accept strangers and guests. It is very protective of its family, including children, cats, and other dogs, etc.
