Really these days, I think the whole submissive women thing is a ploy. Its more part of deceptive seduction. Sure she may seem sweet and innocent and maybe submissive or agreeable when you first meet her, but...then...after awhile... she starts breaking your balls!!!

Both males and females have traits that seem seductive and are typically used to reel in a mate. If someone is typically submissive though, its usually under a case of extreme duress. Nowadays, most cultures are modernized/globalized so those 'old school' gender relationships that grandma and grandpa head have been practically obliterated.

Based on religion: Muslims, some Christians, traditionalist Jews.
Based on culture: Some East Asians, but not popular or accepted like the old days. Compare modern Japanese with old ones. I think "WOW!... Asian Women are Submissive" is a cliche/stereotype.
Also "submissive" is a relational term. A natural feminine behavior =/= submissive. Good wife =/= submissive. Some women obey their husbands, because their husbands respect them and treat them well.

Middle Eastern women Arabian to be specific, from Arabia, Iraq, and Southern Syria are extremely submissive, they actually like their subordinate roles. This why feminism has never been successful, and was and is opposed by the majority of them. My mom is very submissive for example and she is from the Syrian Desert, she obeys my Dad without questions for the most part and says this her place as a woman. She thinks feminist are trying to alter the order of nature. Although generally submissive they do often make the decisions toward their children. Although being submissive does not mean disregard to equality, she just believes men and women have different roles.
