Actually when the mongols came we didn't stand a chance, they walked over us as if we were not even there. Why they left? (and this goes for europe too) I don't know but lets just be thankful for it and forget it.

When the mongols invaded the Middle East they were united and the Middle east was divided simply because the middle East the birth place of the three main religions and a house for several types of people. At the times Iran and Baghdad were at odds and did not come to each others aid. A combination of Iranic army and Baghdadi technology would have most certainly beat off any Mongolian invasion. We are paying for our ancestors mistakes and it's not like the Middle East will ever learn from History.
