I dunno if it is that simple I see some Norse influence that would distinquish them from the Irish I would guess who would be more homogenously gaelic. Scotland is quite diverse actually a mix of Gaelic, Brittonic, Germanic and Norse for the most part but these people would not have any continental Germanic just norse It seems and maybe Orkney has stronger Norse input I'm not sure.

Living in England many of those faces look familiar to me, some do look very Scottish while only 1 (the young woman with the glasses) looks typically Scandinavian.

Well everyone on the isles is a mix of Celtic, continental Germanic and Viking (of different proportions) except those outskirt islands maybe. I did not mean they look Scandinavian things like this are not black and white but on a gradient cline.

I consider myself Scottish but not necessarily the average Scot and I don't think I look typically scandinavian but I still have those genetics :

These photos instantly had the kind of esthetic that a remote Scottish island would seem to have.

Does it mean remote in the sense that it's the furthest from another inhabited island or the mainland?

Fair Island is only about 38 km from Shetland, but Kolguyev Island of Nenets Autonomous Okrug is about 75 km from the mainland. People from Kolguyev Island (from https://www.theapricity.com/forum/sh...=1#post6322310):

    Spoiler!

Yeah, she could easily be Finnish too. From a Finnish point of view, Scandinavians look like half British and half Finnish, so in a lot of ways, British people have an exaggerated Scandinavian look from our point of view. But then from a British point of view it's the reverse, where Scandinavians are shifted towards Finns.

Fair Island is only about 38 km from Shetland, but Bugrino Island of Nenets Autonomous Okrug is about 75 km from the mainland. People from Bugrino Island (from https://www.theapricity.com/forum/sh...=1#post6322310):

I was meaning the remotest island in Europe outside Russia, i think Svalbard is more remote but that has only been inhabited since the Medieval period i think, i think many Brits look Scandinavian but the Baltid component is notably uncommon while looking at photos of Norwegians and seeing them in London many have quite a distinct foreign look about them more so than say the Belgians or the Dutch.

Germanic people with Celtic admixture. The Celtic is seen in the exaggerated paleness and auburn-like hair.

I recognize that man. He's Seamus O'Brien, Conan's long lost brother.
