think you mean Sweden...Norway was attacked by 3 sides during WW2, and occupied by Germany for years, this is why we entered NATO..

A small update.

Ireland - the only external threat they face is the UK. The UK would prevent anyone else getting to Ireland and they know it.
Switzerland - they've always been neutral.
Finland - wanted to preserve its independence from the USSR by declaring itself neutral.
Sweden - didn't want to be attacked by the USSR
Austria - the USSR agreed to let it unite (it was divided like Germany) and become independent so long as it didn't join NATO.
