I would do something about the economy, unemployment and basically improve people's lives. I would develop the interior and fight desertification. I would also deport some people.

I would arrest all corrupt politicians and dismantle the two main political parties.

Of course people would view me as a dictator after this.

Going along the lines of what Germanicus quoted...I would make sure the source of unlimited power was destroyed or unattainable. In the words of Gandalf (not an exact quote) ' I would use it in order to do good, but through me it would wield a terrible power' - As the ring seems to be basically an analogy for unlimited power, i feel it's a pertinent quote (not the exact words though).
