BGA results vs. Ancestry Composition.

What do you like better in terms of picking up deep ancestry, Dr. McDonald's BGA or 23AndMe's Ancestry Composition?

Do you think that Ancestry Composition takes into account abt. the last 500 years of your ancestors' (detectable) DNA and the BGA is abt. 1,000 years back and beyond?

In both chromosome paintings it's obvious that the new Ancestry Composition is more detailed but I feel like Dr. McDonald's BGA definitely picks up on ancient ancestry a lot better, do you agree, disagree, etc? I only say this because a lot of the ancestral components I had in the BGA and multiple Gedmatch calculators (Eurogenes, Dodecad, MDLP, etc.) disappeared in my Ancestry Composition (AP2) results.

NOTE: I'm mainly talking about the BGA Chromosome Painting.

I think both have their merits and drawbacks. Personally i'm a fan of the 3rd party tools at GEDmatch the most, although McDonald has done the next best estimations of my (and parent's ancestry). If he had a bigger data set it would be even better. The ancestry composition is good, but mine has changed at least 3 times, although it definitley offers a new and useful perspective. I'd say look at both, and use 3rd party tools, for the best overall idea. But if i had to pick McDonald or Ancestry Composition, i'd go with McDonald.

Yeah i know what you mean. Mostly Nonspecific for my family too. I mean it made sense a fair bit but recently it changed again and it makes less sense, but broadly speaking it agrees with the results from other things, it just seems to lack reliability and precision mostly.

Mine has changed 3 times =S. Although one time that was due to me putting everyone in the family tree. It was most accurate after the initial change, now it has got a bit odd, although still sort of makes sense.
