    Lightbulb The European pyramids

We've always been told that pyramids are things to be found only outside Europe and above all that the greatest were the Egyptian ones , well now maybe all this has to be updated , a lot of pyramides are coming into the light in Italy , Bosna and Ukraine and those of Bosna looks even higher than that of Cheops...

The existence of a monumental pyramidal complex in Central Bosnia , stone spheres and tunnel system (town of Visoko) has caught the world by surprise and shook the global scientific community , because it may require a part of world history to be rewritten. Semir Sam Osmanagich discovered these amazing structures in 2005 , and an Egyptian team of experts confirmed in September 2007 that these structures in Visoko were man-made. With a total of five huge stone structures , perfectly oriented , followed by the network of the underground tunnels it represent a sensational archaeological discovery , and it serves as a testimony about one civilization that we know nothing about.....
Sam is presently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun Foundation , Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegowina , and is the author of ten books about ancient civilizations (The Mayan World , Peruvian, Mexican , and Pacific civilizations) published internationally. His PhD Thesis was on The Maya at the University of Sarajevo.

    The Bosnian pyramids

Egyptian expert confirmed that stone blocks are man-made

One of the leading Egyptian pyramid experts, Ali Abdallah Berekat, geologist at the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority, confirmed that the stone blocks excavated on the Visocica hillside – Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun - are not natural, but man-made creations.

Semir Osmanagic confirmed Berekat’s statement in the interview given to the FENA News Agency and said that Berekat explained how the stone blocks were made. According to the expert coming from the land of pyramids, the stone blocks were molded.

Also, Osmanagic said that the Egyptian expert explained the purpose of the white building material excavated on the north side of the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun.

“Ali Abdallah Berekat PhD is sure that white building material is actually connective material, or the same type of material used to build the walls of the Egyptian temples”, Osmanagic said and added that the statement made by the Egyptian expert is a very important verification of the hypothesis about the existence of the pyramids.

Silbury Hill, England. Not as impressive as the one you posted, Tony, but a pyramid nevertheless.

Silbury Hill, Wiltshire has been carbon-dated at 2660 years BC, the same era as the Giza pyramids. It contains an estimated 340,000 cubic metres of chalk and earth, rising to a height of 39.6 metres. The base of the monument is 167m in diameter and it is perfectly round. The flat top is 30m across. It is part of a sequence of ancient sites in the area that are in alignment.

Despite its external appearance, this is actually a step pyramid, consisting of six, six metre high steps. The steps are walled with blocks of chalk, which easily deteriorates when left exposed. Consequently the builders preserved it, by covering it with earth and grass.

Excavations have revealed that it is not a burial mound

Megalithic building is indeed a mystery. We'll never really know what the ancients had in mind, but we can only stand in awe of their accomplishments.

I am very skeptical of the Bosnian pyramids, but there are some pretty amazing ancient European sites, especially in the British Isles. Silbury Hill (Wiltshire), Maes Howe (Orkney), Knowth and Newgrange (Bru na Boinne, Ireland) come to mind, even if they are not technically pyramids. The passage graves at Maes Howe and Newgrange are aligned to the winter solstice.

From what I've learned, the Romans built a few pyramids, but nothing on the scale of the Great Pyramid of Khufu.

"The pyramid was built about 18 BC–12 BC as a tomb for Gaius Cestius Epulo, a magistrate and member of one of the four great religious corporations at Rome, the Septemviri Epulonum. It is of brick-faced concrete covered with slabs of white marble standing on a travertine foundation, measuring 100 Roman feet (22 m) square at the base and standing 125 Roman feet (27 m) high."

If anyone had the architectural know-how and the organization to build pyramids in Europe, one need look no further than the Romans.

Roman and medieval ruins exist on Visocica Hill. Looks more to me like a prism than a pyramid, if it looks like anything at all.
