The folk costumes represented in these pictures belonged to real people. For example this costume was property of a Kosovar Bulgarian woman who emigrated to Bulgaria when Kosovo became part of Serbia.
Same is the case with the folk costumes from Debar, Ohrid, Skopje, Voden and so on.

There are obvious resemblences between the Macedonian folk costumes and the folk costumes from Chuvashia.
