Play God in Europe

If you could, which European (I know someone will say Israel because I'm Jewish but let's stick to Europe) countries would you get rid of eg would you merge Northern Ireland with Ireland or give Kosovo back to Serbia?

Which European countries borders would you change? eg Would you give Prussia back to Germany?

Which European countries would you create? eg Would you make "Lombardia"
(by breaking up Italy)?

I would get rid of Malta, that tiny insignificant piece of rock in the Mediterranean. But then again Malta isn't in Europe, it's North Africa...oooh bummer.

1. Split up Kosovo between Albania and Serbia following ethnic borders

2. Unite Northern-Ireland with Ireland, I think that religion isn't a good enough reason to be ruled by the UK.

3. Unite Germany and Austria

4. Make Russia give back occupied territories to Finland, Estonia and Latvia.

4. Unite Romania and Moldova

5. Give independence to the different autonomous republics in Russia, like Udmurtia etc.

6. Split up Belgium between France and The Netherlands

7. Make Latvia give back Estonia a handful of small towns to Estonia that were majority Estonian in 1920 Also, uniting Valga/Valka under Estonian rule.

8. Give back Hungary some neighboring Hungarian territories.

1. Give Northern Ireland to Ireland.
2. Catalunya independent.
3. Basque Country independent.
4. Galicia part of Portugal.
5. Occitania formed from parts of southern France and northern Italy.
6. Calabria, Apulia, Basilicata, and Sicily unite (I decided to let the Maltese enjoy their sovereignty and accept the historical fate) and abandon the standard Italian for their dialects.

Splitting up the European countries will just promote more European border wars, and contribute to a declining population.

Personally I would revive the Austro-Hungarian Empire, make a new sort of Greco-Roman hybrid country, unite Portugal and Spain, and unite Norway and Sweden. Now of course I understand there can be big differences among people in the same region(ie: Portugal and Spain) but as long as there is a province or state system to accomodate that I see nothing wrong with my plan.

I'd merge Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, because they're all pretty much the same people just divided by religion. Also I would merge Bulgaria and Macedonia for the same reason and give Eastern Thrace back to Bulgaria.

There has already been such a system and it hasn't worked. The Portuguese would never rejoin Spain, while Catalonia and the Basque Country will soon secede.

I think Malta is counted in Europe so I'd make it as big as Sardinia.
