Default Turkmen look closer to Turkish or Uyghur/Uzbeks?

    A autosomal DNA chart

In terms of physical appearance would Turkmen be mistaken for Turkish or more Uyghurs/Uzbeks? Should Turkmen be considered Caucasoid or Mongoloid/Caucasoid?

    17 samples

    2 samples : 31% Mongoloid + 69% Caucasoid
    2 samples : 27.5% Mongoloid + 72.5% Caucasoid

    4 out of 17 = 23% of Turkmen population

    ------------
    1 sample : 23% Mongoloid + 77% Caucasoid
    1 sample : 22% Mongoloid + 78% Caucasoid

    2 out of 17 = 11% of Turkmen population

    ------------
    11 samples : 13 - 18% Mongoloid + 82 - 87% Caucasoid

    11 out of 17 = 64.7% of Turkmen population

Those have to be more Mongoloid than the ones in the chart you posted with the genetic results.

Turkmen inhabit a wide geographical range so it'd make sense for them to vary. An Iraqi Turkmen for instance is going to look more West Asian than one from Turkmenistan, who would look more Mongoloid.

Iraqi Turkmens aren't really "Turkmen", they are ethnolinguistically more related to Azeri and Turkish people. Turkmens live in Turkmenistan and adjacent parts of Afghanistan and Iran.

They are of course Turkmens, but yes, not Central Asian Turkmens. The term of "Turkmen" can be confusing nowadays, but in older times it was practically used for all of Muslim Oghuz Turks. In Ottoman times later it was used for nomadic Turkic tribes, during Safavid period however (which is about the same time as the Ottoman period) Azerbaijani Turks continued to be known as Turkmen, this however changed, over time the term of "Tarakama" was developed in Azerbaijan to be solely used for nomadic population aswell, while those who weren't nomads favoured to be designated as "Turk". So over time its usage and meaning has been altered, but during medieval times this term was used by others and Oghuzes themselves to refer to Muslim Oghuz populations.

If the question refers to the population of Turkmenistan, then most of them look closer to Uzbeks.
