    Default Bulgarian dialects

I didn't see a thread about our dialects, if there is one, please send me a link. Sadly, the Bulgarian dialects have mostly died out inside Bulgaria, because they are under heavy pressure from the standard language.

Here's an example of how Bosilegradians in Serbia talk:

And this is Rhodopian (kinda), spoken by a second generation Pomak in Turkey:

I thought it would be appropriate to post a map which shows all the dialects of Bulgarian.

It's a shame mostly the old generations can only speak the dialects now. My family is from the Lerin region (bottom left on the map), and I'm happy to still have my grandparents who speak the Lerinski dialect fluently. I think they should all be preserved in some way.

It's a shame when dialects are vanishing.

I don't know the situation in Bulgaria, but here everything is getting standardized or even worse ''Zagreb''-ized.

That has its pro's,but linguistical heritage is real treasure.

My great grandmother from Eastern Thrace spoke a dialect which is identical to the dialect of the Pomaks in Turkey.

People there use on/ona for he/she and ya for I.

The cultural instutions of our respective countries should document every dialect, word for word, whilst the elderly are still with us. Our lingusitical heritage is one of the most important element of our nations. If we loose it we will loose a big part of who we are.

It's not just the words, the pronunciations are even more special.

Some kind of video/audio documents must be taken.

Pomak woman from Odrin, Eastern Thrace. Notice how at the beginning the reporter is asking her questions in Turkish and she answers in Bulgarian.

I believe most of the Bulgarian dialects used those in the past, but the Tarnovo dialect, where toy/tya and az are used was standartized.

"Az" is old-Slavic for "I" isn't? But Tyo and Tya sounds weird. Is that Slavic, or something left over from Bulgar language?
