Istanbul certainly seems to be a city in its own league, it's a city I really hope to visit very, very soon. It strikes me as being a mysterious mixture of everything, a city of crossroads..but is it really a European city? I think it's too unique/different and has an Eastern air to it, for it to be labelled as European..

So, what did you mean exactly by saying that most people would not prefer Turkey ? some people go to see some history, or some nice beaches and nice weather or spas, forests, waterfalls, mountains and other beauties of the nature, or religious places, considering the fact that the first churches were built within Turkey, and other sacred places mentioned in the Bible. Turkey fulfills all of them.
