    Very interesting

I spoke to a woman on 23andme who is one quarter Sicilian from Palermo .. her grandmother is blonde and blue eyed. The rest of her ancestry is Irish, German, and French I believe.. and she on one DNA run got 14% "Turkish-Persian-Caucasus".. might have been Eurogenes or another calculator.

Which would only be further proof that Eurogenes is such bullshit. There is nothing Persian-like about Palermitans.

Well, if there is no Levantine reference population, the West Asian affinity or Phoenician could be misread as such. But it is Persian-Turkish-Caucasus.. maybe Elymian, if we subscribe to the idea that western Sicilians retain Elymian genes.

If the Elymians even originated as has been speculated in Troy or elsewhere in modern Turkey. We don't know.

I added another Sicilian on 23andme, whose dad's family is from Catania. Their y-dna is J1e (this makes the third one yet on 23andme I have added). They are half Irish though so I won't post their breakdown here.

I also am sharing with a J2a2a from an unknown part of Sicily but he is also half Neapolitan.

J1 is more common than I expected, based on the limited number of people we have. Is your J1 a J1e?

Yes. His mtDNA HG is HV, if you think you might also be sharing with him.
