Not that much compared to other countries. They arrived in the 15th century and are estimated to be between 30 and 50 thousand.
I would say they are in almost every European country.

In fact they are 17000, acording to the 2011 census. That's 0,17% of the population and that percentage is consistent in my hometown.

Strange (and sad) how they have been able to hold onto that culture for so many hundreds of years.

@sido: ethnic Serbian muslims were assimilated into the Bosniak identity, I dont think the white Romas are ethnic Serbs.

Yes, but that was their choice. I also find it strange how they can be so isolated for centuries.

A Romani relative of mine from not too long ago, picture is taken in Sweden if i remember correctly:

A more recent Romani relative of mine:

" I once tried thinking for an entire day, but I found it less valuable than one moment of study. I once tried standing up on my toes to see far out in the distance, but I found that I could see much farther by climbing to a high place."

Why are you such a liar? Gypsies in Turkey are completely assimilated, you moron!

Compare Bulgarians with Gypsies and you'll see who looks the part.

I do remember to see this map too but with labels.
We thought they were more because some of them din't even had identity card and vaguely lived between Spain (where they all have family) and Portugal. Apparently the number is about half of what we imagined.
In my home town there are two big families with grand grand-parents they are some 40 and we have another 5-6 small families that left the roots of the other two. They are around 20 dispersed in villages where they abbandoned most of gypsy traditions. So 60 in 45-50000 hab. makes 0,12-0,13%.

I don´t think any one would mind if they married a gypsy that came in the 70s or something, not that any one would. But marrying the Romanians today is something no would do :nono:
