sounds a bit like polish, different vowels and less palatalization. a lot more of dzekane than in polish; a bit like my language.

yes, prevalence of /dz/ instead of palatalized /d/ or /dž/.

also "ã" when in Polish occurs ''ę'' in the same place, also "é" and in some dialects there appears initial accent like in Old Polish + palatalizations.

I don't uderstand much of it from 0:20 and later It really sounds like distinct language, for people who live closer to this region it might be easier to understand.

It is not that hard imo to understand the lyrics of this Kashubian folk song by average Polish native speaker

"Mój łojciec kupił kłeza" - "Mój ojciec kupił kozę" (My father bought a goat)

Mój łojciec kupił kłeza, Mój ojciec kupił kozę

trze dytczi zo nie dył Trzy dziesiątki za nią dał

ùwiązôł jo do łeza Przywiązał ją do woza

I taki profit miył. I taki profit miał.

Jedze fuksa, jedze, Jedzie szczęśliwiec jedzie

    tobaczko zażywył, Tabakę zażywał,

łebezdrzeł sã za kłezu, Obejrzał się za kozą,

ten, diebył so ùrwył. Ten diabeł się urwał.

Mój łojciec skôcził z kłeza, Mój ojciec skoczył za kozą

i wòłô: mac, mac, mac, i woła chodź, chodź, chodź

bò widzy, że ta kłeza bo widzi, że ta koza

ùcékô prosto w las. ucieka prosto w las.

Biegô łojciec, biegô, Biega ojciec, biega

a bùksë chwôcył w gôrsc i spodnie chwycił w garść

bò żebë kòze wlëmic, bo żeby kozę złapać,

ò bùksów òdpiął pas. od spodni odpiął pas.

A tam pod samym lasym A tam pod samym lasem

Był taczi wielczi dól, był taki wielki dół,

Ta kłeza przeskòczëła, ta koza przeskoczyła,

A łojciec prosto w dół. a ojciec prosto w dół.

Bùksy przë tim zgùbieł Spodnie przy tym zgubił

Bò w garsce trzimył pas, bo w garści trzymał pas

A żebë cebie kłezo, a żeby ciebie kozo,

Tyn jasny piorun trzasł. ten jasny piorun trzasł.

It might be not that had for you but I think it depends on individual case and tempo of speech. Pronunciation is more different than vocabulary alone.

Agree, but if you make an effort and tune your ears to different pronunciation of the same words, the process of understanding will be much easier. It applies to all Slavic languages. To focus on listening is a must
