Well that could be fun. As I've said before, Apricity is a place mainly for adults, not for people who are so sensitive that they throw all their toys out of the cot when someone posts something that "offends" them. Then they're probably better off somewhere else anyway. We can't keep everyone happy, and we're not going to start installing censorship to please a small vocal minority pressure group.

but how can we be told on what to not get upset about ...? It just isn't possible really. This thread personally doesn't bother me, it's stupid.

I keep hearing from dear friends that they are wanting to leave because of all the trolling. I just don't want to see them go and be left with Taco and Lefty ....

So, the question is what can be done about this?

I'm just reminding people that perhaps it would be more agreeable for people to not get upset over some things. Have you read the title of this thread?? Would anyone with half an ounce of common sense really see this as a serious topic of discussion? Come on good people. Be reasonable. Nobody in their right minds could possibly see this as a serious thread.

I'm reminded here of what Oulf said about one member not being a good troll. There's an art to trolling, some are better at it than others. And some types of trolling posts and/or trolls themselves are more fun to play with than with others. But ask yourself every time a troll posts, what is the motivation for the trolling post? What response is this person trying to elicit from me? Am I playing right into their own hands? Am I giving them power in terms of getting worked up over whatever post was written? In terms of group dynamics, there will always be the troll (also known as the trickster or "loki" persona) in any group. If it isn't whomever you have identified today, it'll be someone else tomorrow.

The way I see it, there are a few different ways one could tackle things:

1. Take Ikki's advice and use the Ignore Button.

2. Take Dres's advice and sling some shit.

3. Take the offensive....I'll leave that to your imagination.

There is more than one way to skin a cat (sorry Foxie and Absinthe) good people.

I'm personally not worried about this thread, or what Hors says and does. I have never used the ignore button and don't plan to, simply because I do not need to.

What I am worried about however is the people here who I respect and like. I know they are their own person and can leave or stay, whatever fits their fancy. But, do I want to continue on a board which drives away the good people, and keeps the trolls. I'm not whining Oh ban Hors or whoever, I'm just wanting to make the point clear that the reason I come here is not for entertainment from Hors and Taco and such.

It seems I get PM's or Rep's from who I would consider the value members who are saying the same thing. They do not always come out and say it in the open though, which I will because I know I can.

And, with saying all that, its strange, that whenever we are all having fun and good times and respecting one another its like we are actually friends who would have each others backs. And then something comes along that upsets one and they are told by who was just their cutting up and laughing friend to ignore such and given a shoulder shrug when they say they are leaving.

It's as if we care for each other and sometimes we don't. I myself do not work that way. If I see you as a fit person for my attention and friendship I am going to have your back no matter what.

And again no disrespect to the powers that be that choose to keep such trolls around but I just have to ask myself are these trolls more important than the valuable members that make this place great. ( for me anyway )

Edit: In other words, like Skadi, everyone there worth listening to came here what if they all moved on because they were tired of trolling. Would this place be as dead as Skadi? Of course it would. It can happen anywhere. I like to take this place seriously and then have good laughs with good members. Not a over taken troll bored, its just a turn off IMO. And, only IMO. It doesn't have to be your opinion or Loki's opinion, but it is my opinion and I spoke it. I hope you all understand what I am saying.
