How bad is London?

Have heard that many places are built of clay in London, & can crack or warp in extreme weather. The other one is that the Houses of Parliament is slowly sinking..

It is a miracle that many London buildings are still standing, as many of them were literally thrown up.

Anyway, this is the Williamane (post-Regency) St. George's Drive.



Yep, if you include the concealed attic and the basement (or two), these are seven or eight storey townhouses.

Surviving in London is really a matter of knowing where to go, but even then, it would only be the increased salary that you might have which would make it worth your while.

Wouldn't cost of living make a higher income less worthwhile? London seems like a city you'd really want to live in and love living there to be able to tolerate it.

The higher income is proportionately greater than the higher cost of living, so it makes it worthwhile for the financially-minded, which means that London is essentially full of bread-heads.

So, if you are a bread-head and you earn a lot, you will prefer to live in London, and then get out and retire somewhere really nice, unless you are a super-rich foreign tax-dodger and actually want to live there and hang out with your super-rich friends.
