I've never understood this whole, 'Irish are sub-humans' thing. What was British and American Nativist propaganda has gotten way out of hand. Ireland is #8 in HDI for example, so Irish people are clearly capable of something.

Are they significantly different than other Northwest Europeans? Obviously not. People exaggerate differences possibly going back to some old prejudices. Not really sure why.

People from Tipperary. Do they stand out as particularly different for their geographic area that people would think they have different genetics than populations closest to them? What I find odd is that people would think Irish people are somewhat different than their neighbours not the fact that they are just the same as their neighbours. People are just illogical.

In answer to the question of this thread Irish are significantly closer to populations like the British, Benelux, Scandinavians etc. They are then closer to Central Europeans like the Germans and even populations like Austrian. Iberian populations only start appearing quite distantly and then it is mostly with more Northern Spanish like Catalans and Cantabrians. So this is fairly black and white and no need for guessing. It is fairly conclusive and consistent with all other genetic results.
