I would also have to say that Iberians are not known as great drinkers. The Irish do have a bad reputation as far as alcohol but they aren't on their own. Eastern Europeans are the biggest drinkers.

Are they significantly different than other Northwest Europeans? Obviously not. People exaggerate differences possibly going back to some old prejudices. Not really sure why.

You seem to have somewhat misinterpreted what I said there, Grace. I certainly don't have such prejudices and I don't think there is a great difference in hair colouring between Irish and Germans (or north Germans). But though not great, I reckon the difference is probably significant and it does need explaining. Same with red hair in the opposite direction.

Not you personally but there is a lot of exaggeration. There are subtle differences in lots of groups for example Irish have very fair and freckled skin with a higher percentage of blue eyes. The Irish are closest to West Scots and the English are closer to South Dutch and Benelux. They are all subtle differences.

This is more what you would get in Ireland than some other countries. It could be all down to founder effect especially with things like red hair.

Anyway Germans are not the closest population to the Irish. The Irish also have a much smaller population than a lot of groups and there was only about 2.8 million Irish in 1960 so they have had more boom and bust than most populations even compared to their closest neighbour Britain.

Here is a team from Co Offaly. Most Irish have brown hair from light to dark. Light shades of brown are very common.

I don't know about Irish iq, but there is an explanation for iberian, which is the lower education that previous generations received due to conditions. Youth in Iberia and rest of South Europe doesn't differ from youth in northern Europe, except of askhenazi, who are northern Europeans and have the highest iq among Europeans

In any case you can't relate two nations based on their iq scores. Also, I don't think iberians drink that much, Germans probably drink equally to Irish. I will agree that "hot headedness" is the last thing you can find among Germans, as well as that Germans have a more "germanic" with much eastern European influenced (like their culture and dna) demeanor
