When i was a mere boy, i had the Asterix annuals, the comics were highly sought after, the cartoon series on TV i vaguely remember.
Have you noticed that if you rearrange the letters in ‘illegal immigrants’, and add just a few more letters, it spells, ‘Go home you free-loading, benefit-grabbing, resource-sucking, baby-making, non-English-speaking ********* and take those other hairy-faced, sandal-wearing, bomb-making, camel-riding, goat-f*****g raghead c***s with you.?

Fantastic post ! When I was a kid I used to collect them alongside the Suske en Wiske-series.

I always loved reading it and it fueled my interest for Roman history and Roman culture- and later on for the Gauls as well.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

I lived in France as a kid so I am very familiar with Asterix as well as Tintin. Reading them helped me learn the language.

Asterix and Obelix are awesome!! I got all the books (Including the new ones - not so good, should have stopped when Roscinny died ), loved them! Still read these sometimes, some jokes are never old

I agree, Asterix is not the same anymore without Goscinny.

I agree with the comments about Goscinny. The stories lost their charm and value.

The same thing happened with Tintin after Herge (Georges Remi) died and the series continued without him.

I shouldn't have said "post-Herge". "Lake of Sharks" wasn't by him and the story is quite weak imo.
