probably because "dark" Spaniards with middle eastern features migrated to Latin America since "light" Spaniards, of Celtic ancestry, remained on the European continent.I've noticed this more amongst Mexicans than other Hispanics. But there are Mexicans who are likely between castizo and harnizo who don't look overtly Amerindian, but also don't look Spanish either and instead look pseudo-West Asian (Turkish, Levantine, etc.).
An example is Mayte Carranco:
And then you have someone like me for instance who can pass as an offwhite upper-class Mexican better than as a Spaniard.. but I have no Amerindian ancestry but instead have a Neolithic vibe from my Sicilian heritage.
Why do some of the combinations in Mexico produce a pseudo-West Asian look?
