Is there a larger divide between Western/Eastern Europe or Northern/Southern Europe?

I'm talking about ethnolginuistical group, not about ''culture''. There isn't a common galloromance culture in the same way there isn't a common ''germanic'' culture, simply.

That's why paninclusive terms like ''Southern Europe'' or ''Eastern Europe'' are senseless, except for geography.

There are definetly divides in Europe.
From a Nordic perspective we are definetly not the same as Greeks, Italians or Spaniards. They have a different mentality from us which we could call the "manana, manana and siesta"- culture. Southerners are viewed as pushy with a broader concept of morality. (Think: Italian footballplayer filming great pain and agony)
Also there is a very significant east/west divide. Nordic peoples view Bulgarians, Romanians, Ukrainians, Russians e.t.c. as dispensable, with a lower morale and are untrustworthy partners in negotiations. (Think; organised crime and broken agreements)

You can replace Nordic with Germanic and it will still be rather accurate. Germanic Europe isn't that divided in comparision with Slavic or Romance Europe.

It's a point of view as another (since for ''italian culture'' foreigners usually mean ''sicilian or southern italian culture'' and rarely ''tuscan'' or ''Venetic'' or ''alpine''...), reputable.

Don't forget that ''Southern Europe'' isn't only ''romance europe''...there are some other entities...Greece for example...and what about the Balkans? Here for example the balkans are considered ''Est'' and not ''Sud'', but i bet that in Sweden balkan states are considered ''South'' or, at least ''east''.

There is no such thing as "Eastern European culture".

The only thing all these "Eastern European" states have in common is the Communist "heritage" of 1945-1990.

IMO the northern/southern divide is greater. If we look at it through religion Protestant vs Catholics which have completely which have completely different ethics and mindset. People from the north are also alot more distinguishable in looks than those from the south when compared from east to west.

I think there are grosso modo both North South and West East divides, perhaps North South is more marked.

Regarding phenotypes north/south is a larger divide.
It's easier to mix a group of portuguese with greeks, than with irish

For me there are 4 Europes

Mediterranean peoples: SPain, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Malta, etc.
GErmanic Europe: 3 Scandinavian nations + Iceland, NL/Flanders, GErman Speaking countries
Slavs/Balts: Baltic Countries, East Slavic, West Slavic and Balkans.
pheirpheral Europe/Celtic : UK and Ireland

outliers: Hungary and Finland.
