i mean easteurope is mostly slavic for me while we are very different that was why i was saying we cant be easteurope since our culture is closer to italians then other slavs except montenegrins

In the same way americans and northern euros call Piedmont "mediterranean region" only because we're in the italian state, even if we haven't med sea since mesozhoic and Piedmont mean "The feet of the mountains (Alps)" in french language

About Albania, they think this because for many people "Former soviet/communist Europe = East"

There is no Eastern Europe. There are Slavic countries + Ukraine, Rumania and Albania.

21% of the population (and about 30% of northern Italy) would disagree with you. (see this Lega Nord).

Seriously, yes we are...but i personally consider the concept "Italian" as a Metha Ethicity or as a "Ethnic collettivity" rather than "ethnicity"...indeed different part of the country have been for centuries different cultures, and sometimes powerful states (see the Vatican, Republic of Venice, Savoia-Piemont, Tuscany, etc.).
Remember that we're united only since 1861 and standard italian as spoken language sart to be widespread only since 1920-1930 (now is the primary language and mothertongue of 68% of the italians, according to a recent poll).
