why macedonians always complain because bulgarians have claim about macedonia and macedonian history and call them "bugari tatari" , and now in this thread where bulgarians talk proudly about the asian proto-bulgarians they claim bulgarians have nothing to do with them ?
i think this is because in macedonia there is a general feeling about bulgaria wich is a mix of hate and inferiority complex , where in any case they want make bulgaria inferior than macedonia , because they know at the end of the day proto-bulgarians were great warrior , but modern bulgarians are tatars only when we have to talk about wich is the most pure european in the balkans so in this case they can mock bulgarians , but when we talk about how strong were the bulgars in this case modern bulgarians don't have nothing to do with them!

It's a very cunning and elaborate game of character assassination played rather successfully by the Serbs. It was their intellectuals being the most belligerent proponents of the alleged racial impurity of the Bulgarians; their incoherent bastardized language and culture; their Popish tendencies that disqualified them from holy Orthodox Slavdom and made them inferior to Serbs. This perceived inferiority was used to justify the numerous acts of treachery, perpetrated by the Serbs against the Bulgarians, before Serbia's own subjects.

A simple propaganda trick of dehumanizing the enemy. Bugari tatari! So similar to the Germans being called the Huns by the Brits in WWI.

The tragedy of the Macedonians is contracting the Stockholm syndrome. They have been a Serbian colony in one form or another for a century now, with all the concomitant peculiarities of colonization - second class citizenship for the natives, marginalization of their culture, language fascism and gradual creolization of the local vernacular and lots of one-sided violence - cultural, structural, personal, physical, sexual, etc. Of course, all that resulted in the spawning of the new Macedonian nation, but the process was rather gradual. The generation which witnessed the transition throughout their whole life internalized the racial inferioriy they were conditioned to feel for being Bulgarians and passed it over to the next generation in the form of embarrassment, avoidnace, shunning, loathing of everything Bulgarian either voluntarily or not.

The result - the janissary attitude of today's Macedonians calling their closest kin by the rather idiotic insult - tatari (Idiotic on account of Tatars being a much later historical phenomenon than the Bulgars).

That's only the nationalistic Serbs. IRL Serbs don't have particularly strong feelings for Bulgaria, if you act friendly they will too. You think too deeply into these things.

The thing is that Macedonia does not has hatred towards Bulgaria, Bulgaria to us is any other country in europe but Bulgaria in the past 10-20 years is strongly pushing towards claims over people, culture, even land of macedonia...also using Macedonia being poor and not part of eu so trying to steal Macedonia's citizens by getting their passports aka Bulgaria is working on destroying Macedonia, and when macedonians complain, then any Bulgarian will say "Serbian propaganda and shit"... the problem is that Bulgaria and Greece don't want people in Macedonia to be free and have the freedom of self identification, which is a basic right of every human in this planet, and as long as this right is being not accepted by Greece and Bulgaria, you will always be wrong
