I think one should call much of the questionable traits estonians are claimed to have not as mongoloid, but as pre-mongoloid.

I don't know about credibility issues and the works in detail, but it looks like there is a recent breakthrough to connect uralics more to amerindians, not to mongols.

North-Europeans and uralics also have an amerindian-like component in their genetics.

The important point is that the traits that are pre-mongoloid (and pre-european and possibly pre-amerindian) are NOT mongoloid !!!

EDIT: another important point is that such pre-mongoloid traits are actually an indication of paleo-europeanness, not an indication against it.

More speculations amount about possible R in the Mal'ta specimen.
Too early to tell, but it should stop anyone claiming the R among baltic-finnics (esp among estonians) and balts as a sure evidence of "indo-europeanness", at least for a while.
