I think the point Loki is making is quite clear: neg rep just the one post you disagree with. Don't go looking for other unrelated posts by the same person to neg rep. Pretty simple, methinks.

Why don't you remove the negative reputation feature altogether?

I don't see the point of it anyway... I mean, you give positive reputation to reinforce a good post, you "punish" a bad post by not giving reputation at all (that is by simply ignoring it). Or you can express your dissapproval by arguing against it on the thread itself Everything else is childish...

Good point! It really is childish ... one can give a disagreement comment in a positive rep too. Could be considered.

Well, a person who advocates beating his wife deserves more than a negrep, but that's all I could do.

However, negrep has been used to insult people on other forums. People insulted me that way.

I only give out negative reps on posts that deserve it like insulting or just plain stupid. I don't really use it otherwise.

Murphy, you're generally a repeat offender who has no tact and control over what you say and do. Hopefully it's just foolishness of youth. What you, and others of the same ilk do, however, is spoil it for everyone else who doesn't abuse the system, and you have the gall to tell the admin how run this forum? Some members have again been subjected to barrages of negrep comments - I have now rectified it.

The horror is that in some cases, staff members have participated in it as well. I do not take kindly to this and it will be addressed in the future.

Okay, it won't happen again. 5 neg reps maximum per week for me, although I rarely used them before Ghost Knight showed up.
And I won't target them all on one or two members, just when a very unacceptable post has been made. Is that fine or should I be even more moderate?

On the other hand though I'm a generous with positive rep and that will continue.
