DR is hard as fuck to live in

I thought that DR had one of the best economies in the caribbe, and their poverty was from haitian refugees.
Talking about that, I found this videos about that conflict:

DR is an Afro-Caribbean country, with a population of mainly 85% Afro-Descendants (some say 90%) but many are Mulattoes. Thing is during the 1930s-1960s the dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo, he wanted to whitefy the country by bringing in Europeans in vast numbers which he did but they did not do much difference to the population input, due to the rough history that Haitians and Dominicans have and the casta system, we want to be separated from Haitians and since they are a black nation of approximately 95%. We want to be different from them so we invitended the different terms of skin tones and we never really use black but "moreno" & "indio" which pretty much means "Black/moreno" & "Mulatto/indio". Negro is for the Haitians even though there so many Dominicans that are just as Black as Haitians or Africans themselves.

Dominicans dont like Haitians

Hispaniola was first discovered by Spaniards and spain took Hispaniola but since the east side of hispaniola/quisqeya is more forested due to geographical situations and climate more stayed and populated the east more than the west, there were some spaniards on the west side but they weren't many and so France took advantage and took the west side which later became haiti, and spaniards sticked to the east which later became DR, and so, we've had british raids trying to take our land and they failed then went to Jamaica and succeeded which btw jamaica was also part of spain until the 1600s. The french slowly started to populate our side in the 1600s and spain didnt want that so then they sent a huge massive load of Canary Islanders to DR from 1680s-1780s to populate DR and overhual the French population, which spain succeeded in that. Then the Haitian revolution happened, around the late 1700s DR's economy went to shit and many whites fled and left their slaves so DR around 1792 was already a Black/Mulatto majority but with a large white minority, then the Haitians raided DR and even more whites fled, unfortunately leaving us with only less than 10-15% population, the black/mulatto Dominicans didnt like Haitians they still treated them like shit despite being of the same race, Dominicans didnt want no part with Haitians of any color so then we won our independance in 1844 kicking out the Haitians and including Dominicans who were with the Haitians (this is why so many Haitians have spanish last names) so DR stayed a black/mulatto majority country, and slavery was still present in some parts of DR but was dying out, we had the last shipments of Africans that came to DR in the 1850s from guinea bissau mainly and nigeria. the blacks/mulatto Dominicans in DR are purely Dominicans who descend from slaves brought over from Africa and became Dominicanized/Hispanized and wanted no part in Haitian revolution due to the fact that they saw whites as family and whites and blacks in DR worked together towards the end of the 18th century due to bad economy so we believed in working hard together can make properity happen. DR was never really a slave nation to begin with, we had slavery yes, all over the DR. But it was mostly a bridge. Spain had too many rules and restrictions on what they could actually do to the slaves, whilst in Haiti the french were extremetly rough and brutal to the slaves and then that happened. Also forgot to mentioned that the DR had among one of the highest numbers of maroons and maroon villages/communities in the hills of DR and river/lakes so much in fact to the point where whites had to travel armed in roads to the countryside in case of attacks, also Haitian maroon slaves escaping the west to go to the east to DR contributed to the already large Dominican maroon settlements all around the DR but they didnt speak french yet they still spoke their African tongues until they later learned broken spanish like the rest of them, this also contributed to the African presence of the DR today, blacks have always outnumbered whites.

and about the economy, no way are we really doing the best in the caribbean, in terms of how the layout of the city santo domingo is yeah, and DR has a lot of money. But the vast majority of Dominicans are poor, too much local poverty.

Chile isn't among the whitest countries though.

For example Puerto Rico and Brazil are more European than Chile in terms of ancestry, but Chile is far safer than both.

Haha yeah it leans towards the Euro side.. Santiago should be 60% Euro - 40% Indigenous approximately.
